Alongside the recent arrival of the Special Research for Generation II’s Mythical, Celebi, the developer launched a Johto-themed event featuring increased spawns of the Pokémon originally found in Pokémon Gold and Silver. However, according to a tweet from Niantic, the spawns will stop on August 28th at 1 p.m. PT.

Trainers should take full advantage of the event before it’s gone due to the many new evolutions arriving in Generation IV. Many ‘mons from Generation II, such as Murkrow and Sneasel, get new forms in the next batch of creatures, so players should earn as much candy as possible before it’s too late.

The increased Johto spawns have also meant more chances at new shiny Pokémon. Among the many Pokémon from Generation II with shiny variants in the mobile game, the most recent Pokémon to get their rare color-swapped versions—Snubbull, Houndour, Sunkern, Natu, and Pineco—have been appearing more often in the wild and as research quest rewards.

The spawns aren’t the only things changing soon. It was recently announced through an in-game notification that the current Research Breakthrough reward, Raikou, will be swapped out with Entei on September 1st.

Pokémon Go is available for iOS and Android.
